Cottage Kennels and Cattery advises against boarding elderly pets as well as those with compromised health due to medical conditions or otherwise. We recommend home care or veterinary boarding for pets in this category.

As pets age, changes to their health and wellbeing can be rapid and unpredictable. This can cause underlying health conditions (that you and your vet may not be aware of) to present themselves with little warning. Unfortunately this means that a medical emergency may occur in our care.

If your pet falls into this category please call us to discuss whether boarding will be suitable for them. We have many senior pets stay with us who do really well, however we need to ensure it is the best option for them.

We require a Health Declaration to be completed for all senior pets including: small dogs over 12 years, medium to large dogs over 10 years, cats over 12 years, pets of any age with a complex medical issue or those that we deem to be a higher risk.

This form gives us more detailed information about your pet’s health and allows us to provide more tailored care.

Please note: Pets in this category do NOT incur any additional ‘Aged Care’ charges.
